With the bibliographic transition, librarians and documentalists are forced to deal with new rules of cataloguing. The aim is a better valorisation of the informations by making the datas interoperable and always at the core of the websemantic.
A native integration of the FRBR model into PMB
The FRBR model is totally integrated in PMB so that the professionals can easily catalogue their documentary collections with the new rules of the bibliograpic transition. Every data available on data.bnf.fr is natively integrated into PMB. Datas are indexed with high precision and contextualized, creating relevant links between documents that would not appear without the FRBR model. Thanks to the FRBR model, cataloguing is more efficient, more precise and much more qualitative.
A system of schemes and concepts, respecting the ISO-25964-1 norme and using the SKOS norme for their description, has been injected into PMB. With the SKOS norme, any element of cataloguing (notice, manifestation, authority, item or copy) can be indexed with concepts or composed concepts : this is the new way of adding subjects into PMB.
As a consequence, one composed concept can be the aggregation of several authorities or several manifestations. By using an artwork, a person, an expression or a notice, you can now indexe a notice, an authority or even a copy !
A huge net of informations
Datavisualization is fully integrated into PMB. Graphes are available for the authorities but also for the notices, therefore it is easy to explore the documentary collections and to see the elements that have a link a particular entity (notice author, concept, etc.). With the FRBR model, documentalists and librarians keep an eye on their whole collections et make sens into them, no matter of their complexity.
Users have access to a multitude of information : on a same FRBR page, they can for instance discover the biography of an author, see his portraits, visualize his artwork and those which quote him in a timeline. Moreover, the research universes and the content appear in function of the profile of the users. For example, children who authentify themselves to a portal will not have access to the same informations as the adultes or teachers will have.
